Our country is this year's guest of honor at the exhibition

The Ministry of Economy and Industry organizes the Bulgarian national participation in the 87th edition of the Thessaloniki International Fair 2023, in the period 09-17.09.2023, Thessaloniki, Greece, in partnership with the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises enterprises /IANMSP/.

This year, Bulgaria will be the guest of honor at the most important business, financial, social and cultural event for 2023, Thessaloniki International Fair 2023.

For the period January - April 2023, Bulgarian exports to Greece amounted to BGN 1,591.8 million, while imports from Greece amounted to BGN 1,532.0 million, which formed a positive trade balance of BGN 59 BGN 8 million.

The Thessaloniki International Fair has been organized annually since 1926. More than 1500 exhibitors from 19 countries participated in the 2022 exhibition, including UAE, USA, Luxembourg, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia, Iran, Italy, Poland, Serbia, Cyprus, Georgia, Romania , India, Nepal and Egypt. 343 companies attended the event under the auspices of the Union of Greek Chambers and 46 chambers from around the world. The visitors were more than 212,363 specialists and traders. The exhibition takes place with a rich accompanying program.

During the 87th Thessaloniki International Fair, a wide participation of representatives of the Greek government, state institutions and administration is expected. The organizers envisage a wide range of economic spheres that will be presented at the international exhibition, such as: circular economy, automotive and electromobility, digital technologies, gastronomy and healthy eating, furniture industry, etc.

The organizers of the Thessaloniki International Fair 2023 are providing an opportunity for Bulgaria as the guest of honor to determine the program of one of the days of the accompanying forum, which will be held during the 87th edition of the fair. With the aim of a successful and targeted presentation of the country, the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and Industry plans to rent an exhibition area between 1,500 and 2,600 square meters in Pavilion 13. In addition to building a Bulgarian national stand, the organizers also plan to create a stage for a cultural and entertainment program, premises for B2B meetings and a conference hall with a total area of ​​about 500 sq.m.

It is planned that Bulgarian companies will be located at a minimum of 20 company stands of different sizes. The Bulgarian participants, representatives of companies and associations, will have to cover the costs of building their exhibition stands. It is planned that the smallest stands will be about 15 square meters in size, and the cost of constructing the structure of such a stand will be between BGN 1,350 and 2,250. The participants will have the opportunity to carry out commercial activities within the fair.

Enterprises from the following sectors can participate in the fair:

  • High technologies in the fields of transport, construction, medicine, automotive, energy, etc.;
  • ICT and digitalization;
  • Recycling;
  • Organic farming;
  • Food industry;
  • Perfumery and cosmetics industry;
  • Education;
  • Tourism;

The Ministry of Economy and Industry organizes the participation of Bulgarian companies at the Thessaloniki International Fair 2023 by covering the costs of:

  • Rental of exhibition space;
  • Advertisement of the Bulgarian participation;
  • Companion program;
  • Designing the national stand;
  • National identification of the Bulgarian palace;
  • Exhibitor omissions;

Companies participating in Thessaloniki International Fair 2023 should cover the costs of:

  • Building the structure of the stand, according to the above mentioned prices;
  • Forwarding and insurance of exhibits;
  • Secondment and residence of representative/s from the enterprise (travel, day and apartment);
  • Requested additional services;

Applications for participation in the exhibition are accepted no later than July 28, 2023 (Friday), by sending the completed Application for Participation in one of the following ways:

The 87th Thessaloniki International Fair is an established exhibition event that is inextricably linked to the history of the modern economic and cultural growth of Thessaloniki and Greece. Bulgaria is the first country from the Balkan Peninsula to receive an invitation to participate in the Fair as an honored guest. This focuses attention on our country and provides an opportunity for a new impetus to bilateral political, economic and cultural ties. The Ministry of Economy and Industry is the leading institution for the preparation of Bulgaria's participation in the great exhibition.

The official opening of the Bulgarian participation will take place on September 9, 2023. During the exhibition, a daily accompanying cultural and entertainment program will be held. As part of the Bulgarian presentation, a Greek-Bulgarian conference will be held on 11.09.2023 with the following discussion panels: "Ports and infrastructure"; "Technological Innovation and Digital Connectivity"; "Energy: The implementation of the EU Green Deal in Greece and Bulgaria: a potential energy union between Bulgaria and Greece" and "Circular tourism throughout the year", in which Bulgarian and Greek representatives from the highest state level, from business and science will participate sphere.

DEAR LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,

We would like to hereby inform you that due to the disaster conditions in the Hellenic Republic and the subsequent floods, the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis is canceling the official opening of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) and the official appearances. The rest of the events within the Fair will continue according to the planned program.

The opening of the Bulgarian Chamber on September 9, 2023 was carried out without the accompanying holding of an official ceremony.

Given the stated circumstances, the visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Academician Nikolay Denkov and his accompanying delegation to the city of Thessaloniki, in the period September 8-10, 2023, has also been cancelled.

The Greek-Bulgarian business forum scheduled for September 11, 2023 is postponed, as the Greek side proposes that it be held on September 16, 2023.
