On June 18, 2025, a working meeting of members of the Bulgarian Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - BASEL, the Professional Association of Robotics, Automation and Innovation, the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies, the Industrial Cluster "Electromobiles" and the Bulgarian Chamber of Industry - Mechanical Engineering was held with the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Dontcho Barbalov.
During the meeting, Mr. Barbalov presented the main priorities in support of industry and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Bulgaria. A National Industrial Strategy with a horizon of 2030 is currently being developed, the aim of which is to achieve economic growth through digitalization and industrial transformation. The project is being implemented with the support of the European Commission through the Technical Assistance Instrument of DG Reforms. The Ministry of Economy and Industry has implemented a number of specific measures, including support for the implementation of information and communication technologies in small and medium-sized businesses, including customer relationship management (CRM) systems, resource planning (ERP), information security solutions and process digitalization.
Deputy Minister Barbalov also emphasized the role of the Theory in Economics of Information Systems (TEIS) at the Ministry of Economy and Industry in supporting Bulgarian business abroad. He noted that TEIS provide Bulgarian companies with valuable information on foreign markets, trade partners and investment opportunities. In this regard, the Ministry is working to strengthen the network of services and increase its effectiveness for the benefit of business.
BASEL recommended that business representatives participate in the preparation of the National Industrial Strategy, as well as in the entire process of selecting sales representatives - from determining the criteria to participating in the jury for conducting the interview of candidates.
