Webinar on cybersecurity and CPDP practices was held with great interest and participation of over 50 representatives from various sectors

On October 22, 2024, a webinar organized by BASEL and the Dimitrov, Petrov and Co. (DPC) law firm was successfully held, attracting over 50 participants. The main topics were the new cybersecurity directive NIS 2 and the current practices of the Personal Data Protection Commission (PCPD) in data security breaches.

The webinar started with a presentation by Adv. Nikola Stoychev, who presented the main highlights of the NIS 2 directive. He reviewed its scope, which includes 18 sectors such as computer manufacturing, electronic products, food, healthcare, energy and transport. Adv. Stoychev emphasized the minimum security measures, incident reporting obligations and potential sanctions that reach dimensions similar to those of the GDPR. The lecture also highlighted the upcoming changes in local legislation and the responsibility of the management bodies of companies.

The second part of the webinar was led by Adv. Viktoria Veleva, who focuses on the current practices of the CPLD in cases of data security breaches. She shared practical guidelines for preparing for an inspection by the committee, internal procedures for rapid response to incidents and recommendations for improving personal data protection measures.

The webinar provided valuable information and practical advice on compliance with key regulations, with participants receiving specific guidance on how to adapt their businesses to the new requirements. Experts in the field of cyber security and law gave useful presentations that sparked active discussion among the participants.
