On 28.11.2024, a regional roundtable was held at the factory of ELDOMINVEST OOD on the topic "Business and Science in the Electrical Industry and ICT Sectors - Prospects and Challenges in the Varna Region". The event was jointly organized by the Bulgarian Association of Electrical Engineering and Electronics (BASEL), the Varna Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the QUAZAR Competence Center at the Institute of Robotics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The roundtable brought together over 20 participants - representatives of business and academia.
The forum discussed the state and prospects for business and investments in the Varna region and identified the following problems on the labor market:

- Insufficient prestige of technical specialties, hence lack of motivation among students;
- Over 70% of good secondary school students go to study abroad or in Sofia;
- Lack of sufficiently well-prepared and motivated mathematics and physics teachers;
- Lack of management and leadership skills among school principals;
- Lack of sufficient support from business for the development of secondary education;
- Lack of sufficient awareness of the opportunities for the realization of young people in the Varna region;
- Demographic collapse.
Possible solutions were proposed:
- Presenting successful stories of entrepreneurs among students;
- Business should be a proactive party in relations with educational institutions;
- Organizing leadership seminars for school principals, university professors and representatives of the state and municipal administration);
- Organizing entrepreneurship seminars for students.
BASEL and ICT Cluster Varna will participate in joint initiatives to increase the prestige of technical professions.
