On June 12, 2025, in Hall 1 of the University of Economics - Varna, the annual meeting of the ICT Cluster - Varna took place under the title "Setting the Clock". Over 80 guests from business, education, public administration and industry organizations joined the event to discuss the real challenges and future directions of development in the context of the accelerating digital transformation and the penetration of artificial intelligence (AI) in every field.
The forum presented an overview of the rapid development of AI systems, which are already replacing parts of expert work (programming, data analysis, etc.). The participants noted that the shortage of personnel cannot be solved by a single organization and collaboration between IT companies, the manufacturing sector, educational institutions and public administration is needed. The topic of business transformation as a result of the penetration of AI presented an analysis of the development of language models and their application, emphasizing that automation is a necessary part of a sustainable business model.
The associate membership of the Bulgarian Electrical and Electronics Engineering Association (BASEL) in the ICT Cluster - Varna was accepted with a full majority. The participants also supported the mirror membership of the ICT Cluster - Varna in BASEL as a step towards a national partnership in the digital transition. The goal is to strengthen the connection between ICT and the electrical industry.
The meeting ended with a ceremonial part and the presentation of certificates to the newly admitted members. The participants emphasized that "the time has come for deeds, not just words". Active dialogue, concrete plans and joint actions are the key with which business, education and the public sector open the door to an increasingly technological and sustainable Varna.
